Coming from Germany, we recommend travelling via the Tauernschleuse motorway.
At Bad Gastein / Böckstein you drive comfortably by car onto the car transport, which takes you through the Hohe Tauern in 12 km. Once on the other side, you continue your journey in Mallnitz, from where it is another 24 km, first 8m downhill to Obervellach, then 8 km straight ahead to Flattach.

Attention, the sat nav usually leads you around the Tauern motorway to Spittal, which is really a big diversions. Therefore, first enter "Autoschleuse Tauernbahn Böckstein" into the sat nav. Trains run every hour at the full hour +20, loading ends at the latest 15 minutes after the full hour.

The return trains depart at :50, the loading deadline is :45, we recommend departure from the chalet at 10, at the latest 20 minutes after the hour, in order to be at the train on time.

Attention: The Tauern lock will be closed from 12.04. to 17.05.2023 and 18.11.2024 to 14.07.2025. During these periods, the navigation system will guide you via the Tauern motorway to the Spittal exit, then through the Mölltal valley to Flattach.

Coming from the south, you can either drive
Venice - Udine - Villach - Spittal and then on through the Mölltal valley, or from the west
Bolzano - Lienz - Iselsberg - Winklern and then continue through the Mölltal valley to the Mölltaler Gletscher slip road.

At the turn-off, take advantage of the shopping opportunity at the ADEG Flattach on the driveway towards Mölltaler Gletscher, this is the last supermarket, after which it is another 8 km uphill until you reach the small district of Innerfragant. Cross the small bridge there, then you will see your holiday destination just above the Innerfraganter Wirts around the bend.
