The Grossglockner resort is located in one of the most picturesque places in eastern Tyrol. At the foot of the mountains is the cozy village of Kals and a place called Matrei with its five thousand inhabitants. If you're coming from the south, you'll need to take the B 108 federal highway (toll tunnel). Or you can take the A10 motorway to the Lendorf/Lienz exit. Keep a close eye on the signs, drive towards Lienz and follow the B108 to Matrei. If you decide to stay in Kals, you have to leave before you reach Huben. There are two large parking lots in Matrei, most hotels have their own parking lots and you can get to the slopes by a free skibass between the two villages and the lifts. Kals also has a lot to park in.
The resort has everything you need for a good rest: 110 kilometers of slopes of varying difficulty, children's parks, schools for kids and adults. Snow cannons are on 90% of all tracks, which guarantees the presence of snow until mid-spring. The lifts are modern and fast, you won't have to stand in queues. There are slides for sledding, which can be immediately rented, an ice rink. The mountain slopes offer a magnificent view of the Hohe Tauern. The High Towerne is the highest part of the Austrian Alps, and Großglokner is one of the mountain groups in the High Towerne.
